Voices of Experience From Past CJRC Regattas
River Watchers are at the practice site to provide an adult "presence" during practice at a time when the coaches are out on the water with the kids. The parent volunteer acts as a deterrent to curious tourists or possible vandals and is available in case of an emergency. Time is spent sitting up on the levy for the bird's eye view of the parking lot and river bank, as well as walking around by the cars and the boathouse.
The River Watcher should arrive by 4:00 and stay until the first coach is off the water, usually between 5:30 and 6:00. We will continue with this schedule until the rowers begin their indoor training around Thanksgiving.
